How to judge the quality of textile coating?
2024-09-07 15:08:35

Textile coating refers to the coating of a certain paint or resin on the surface of a textile to improve the performance and function of the textile. Judging the quality of textile coating can be evaluated from the following aspects.

First, adhesion: the adhesion of textile coating directly affects the durability and service life of the coating. A common test method is the shear test, which is to cut the coating by a certain amount of force to see if the coating will come off. In addition, the adhesion of textile coatings can also be evaluated by scraper test, tape stripping test and other methods.

Second, wear resistance: textile coatings often face external friction and wear during use, so wear resistance is also an important indicator to evaluate its quality. It is usually possible to use a friction tester to test, by rubbing the coating a certain number of times, to observe whether the coating surface is damaged and delamination.

Durability: The durability of textile coating mainly examines its service life under different environmental conditions. Different environmental and use conditions have different effects on the coating, so artificial aging tests can be carried out to simulate different environmental and use conditions, such as high temperature, low temperature, humidity, ultraviolet light, etc., to see whether the coating will occur discoloration, delamination, cracking and other phenomena.

Waterproof: Textile coatings are usually used to improve the waterproof performance of textiles. The water resistance of textile coatings can be assessed by hydraulic testing, which means that a certain amount of water pressure is applied to the coating to observe whether there is water seepage.

Air permeability: In some applications, textile coatings need to have air permeability to ensure the comfort of textiles when used. The permeability of textile coatings can be evaluated by water vapor permeability test and gas permeability test.

Environmental protection: With the increasing demand for environmentally friendly products, the environmental protection of textile coatings has also become an important consideration. By testing the content of harmful substances released by the coating, such as formaldehyde, heavy metals, etc., to assess its environmental protection.

Appearance effect: The appearance effect of textile coating is also an important judgment criterion. Including color uniformity, gloss, smoothness, etc. Can carry out visual inspection and use professional instruments for testing, such as color difference meter, gloss meter, etc.

In summary, to judge the quality of textile coatings, it is necessary to consider adhesion, wear resistance, durability, water resistance, air permeability, environmental protection and appearance. Through scientific and reasonable test methods and standards, the quality of textile coating can be evaluated objectively, and provide reference and guidance for the development, production and application of textile coating products.
